There's been a lot of talk in the last 24+ hours about Lizzo's IG stories showing off the 10-day detox she did.
First and foremost, The Fat Girl Show believes in body autonomy.
Secondly, as a marginalized community, fat people should never intend to bring someone else down. To that end, to ensure no one is being torn down, The Fat Girl Show is sharing some of the many incredible voices speaking up regarding the situation. We encourage you to check out Saucyé West, Stephanie Yeboah, and Tiffriah Grande.
Thirdly, while a variety of points are being made regarding the inherent politics put upon celebrities, as well as the difference between body positivity, body neutrality, and fat liberation, a discussion that has yet to be reflected upon is the social media aspect of this all.
For decades plus size talent on screen was relegated to fat-friend or funny sidekick. In The Art of Blowing It, from Ashley Monique Menard (of the Eff Your Fears podcast) and SideKick Productions, the curvy girls takes center stage in this mockumentary style comedy series.
Although the new series, Dream, is still in development (ie the show has not yet been ordered), we're overjoyed at the thought of Glee alum Amber Riley leading a comedy series on the peacock.
According to TVLine, "The single-camera project follows a former teen mom, Dream Morgan (played by Riley), who turns her life upside down to pursue her dream of becoming a singer after her son graduates from college. Lisa Muse Bryant (black-ish) will pen the script and serve as showrunner, in addition to exec-producing alongside Neil Meron (The Wiz Live!, Smash)."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, If The Shoe Fits "is the launch title for the new Meant to Be banner, intended to feature updated and contemporary takes on classic Disney princesses, and also the first Disney intellectual property to be developed as an adult publishing project."
From #1 New York Times best-selling author Julie Murphy [Dumplin’, as well as Faith: Taking Flight, the prose adaptation of Valiant Entertainment’s popular comic book character] comes the first in a brand-new adult series inspired by the classic fairy tale stories we all know and love, perfect for adult readers who crave contemporary, escapist rom-coms.
“After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America’s favorite reality show, Before Midnight. When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might help jump-start her fashion career, or at least give her something to do while her peers land jobs in the world of high fashion.
“Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn't expect? That she may just find inspiration — and love — in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn't fit, maybe it's time to design your own.”
If The Shoe Fits will be released Aug. 3, 2021.
Rihanna's lingerie line has been known for being size inclusive since it's initial launch in May 2018. Her second fashion show - which was produced during COVID - just hit Amazon Prime Video on Friday is already setting the internet ablaze.
Not only was icon Lizzo included in the show - along with Willow Smith, Paris Hilton, Normani, Bella Hadid, and Indya Moore - but the musician and entrepreneur announced her new men's line with inclusive male models as well!
"Researchers suggested that thigh and hip circumferences were 'inversely associated with mortality risk'. Each 10cm increase in hip circumference was associated with a 10 per cent lower risk of all-cause mortality, and each 5cm increase in thigh circumference was linked to an 18 per cent lower risk."
Perhaps instead of frivolous studies based on nothing and irrelevant to everyone, these news sources could report on actual news and stop commenting on what's right or wrong with our bodies.
